Each SFP slot supports Ethernet 100/1000Base fiber optic, MSA-
compliant SFP transceivers. You can use the transceiver to connect the
switch to other network devices over large distances, build a high-speed
backbone network between network devices, or connect high-speed
devices, such as servers, to your network.
Note
SFP transceivers must be purchased separately from the switch.
Refer to the product data sheet for a list of supported transceivers.
To protect SFP transceivers from heat-related damage, you should select
transceivers whose maximum operating temperatures exceed the
anticipated maximum ambient temperature at the switch installation site.
Table 3 provides recommendations for SFP maximum operating
temperatures for several ambient site temperatures.
