VWD-3100 and VWD-3400RS Variable Wavelength Detectors
Remedial Action
Verify that the flow cell is installed correctly (→ page 126). Consider
installing a different flow cell.
The flow cell may be dirty. Clean the flow cell (→ page 125).
The detector was not ready to execute the command. Repeat the command
after waiting for a short time. Check the Ready state in Chromeleon.
There may be a Wait command missing in a program.
A fatal error occured. Check the Audit Trail or the front panel display for
additional messages. Read the descriptions of the additional messages
shown.
It is not possible to access the analog outputs as the detector is not
equipped with a DAC board. Install the DAC board (→ page 38) or
remove the related commands.
The DAC board is defective or not properly installed. Reinstall the DAC
board (→ page 38) or delete the commands that relate to the analog
outputs.
There may be too much stray light. Humidity can falsify the measured
signal. With moist environmental conditions wait one hour and repeat the
test. As this message is shown only during the Dark Current Test, also
read possible remedial actions on page 105.

The front panel door is open. Close the door.
Note: When this message appears, the detector is immediately set to
standby mode. This is to avoid damage to the instrument.
Turn the detector off and allow it to cool down. Then turn on the detector
again.
If the detector displays several temperature sensor failure messages,
remove the flow cell and close the front panel door. If temperature
changes are displayed after a short time, reinstall the flow cell. If the
message appears again, the flow cell is defective and must be replaced. If
there is still no temperature data displayed (i.e., the temperature does not
change for some time), turn the detector off, wait for 30 seconds, and then
turn it on again by pressing the power switch on the rear of the detector.
Verify that at least one lamp is turned on. Check the flow cell and retry.
Reinitialize the filter motor by performing the Reset command in
Chromeleon. Consider replacing the lamps (→ page 119).
Turn the detector off, wait for 30 seconds, and then turn it on again by
pressing the power switch on the rear of the detector.
