b. Turn the front wheel 90 so that the heavy
spot is positioned as shown.
c. If the heavy spot does not stay in that posi-
tion, install a heavier weight.
d. Repeat steps (b) and (c) until the front wheel
is balanced.

4. Check:
• Front wheel static balance

a. Turn the front wheel and make sure it stays at
each position shown.
b. If the front wheel does not remain stationary
at all of the positions, rebalance it.

INSTALLING THE FRONT WHEEL (DISC
BRAKE)
1. Install:
• Front brake discs
Front brake disc bolt
17 N·m (1.7 kgf·m, 12 lb·ft)
LOCTITE®
ECA19150
NOTICE
Replace the brake disc bolts with new ones.
TIP
Tighten the brake disc bolts in stages and in a
crisscross pattern.

2. Check:
• Front brake discs
Refer to "CHECKING THE FRONT BRAKE
DISCS" on page 4-45.
3. Lubricate:
• Oil seal lips
Recommended lubricant
Lithium-soap-based grease
4. Install:
• Collar
• Front wheel
• Front wheel axle
• Front wheel axle nut
TIP
Apply lithium soap-based grease onto the mat-
ing surface of the front wheel axle nut.
5. Tighten:
• Front wheel axle nut
Front wheel axle nut
115 N·m (11.5 kgf·m, 83 lb·ft)

NOTICE
Before tightening the wheel axle nut, push
down hard on the handlebar(s) several times
and check if the front fork rebounds smooth-
ly.
6. Tighten:
• Front wheel axle pinch bolt

a. Tighten the pinch bolt "2", pinch bolt "1", and
pinch bolt "2" to the specified torque in this or-
der.
Front wheel axle pinch bolt
21 N·m (2.1 kgf·m, 15 lb·ft)
b. Check that the right end "a" of the front axle is
flush with the front fork "b". If necessary, man-
ually push the front axle or lightly tap it with a
soft hammer until its end is flush with the front
