T
Tiplet Waste Container. Receptacle for used
MTU Tiplets, located in the Fluid Drawer.
pp. 1-11, 2-15
TMA. See Transcription-Mediated Amplification.
Transcription-Mediated Amplification. A
target nucleic acid amplification method which
uses transcription to produce RNA amplicon
from a target nucleic acid. p. 1-19
Transition Incubator. A temperature controlled
incubator where nucleic acid annealing steps
and pre-detection cooling takes place. p. 1-20
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). The
UPS is connected to the PROCLEIX TIGRIS
System to provide power to the system for a
set period of time during interruption of the
main power. T he UPS also p rotects the
PROCLEIX TIGRIS System from potentially
harmful incoming power surges.
Universal Precautions. According to the
concept of Universal Precautions, all human
blood and certain human body fluids are
treated as if known to be infectious for HIV,
HBV, or HCV, and other bloodborne pathogens.
p. 1-2
UPS. See Uninterruptible Power Supply.
User-defined Controls. Samples designated
as custom, laboratory-specific controls by an
operator. Define user-defined controls through
the Configuration screen in the software. p. 5-6
Vacuum. The vacuum system aspirates liquid
from the MTUs and deposits it in Liquid Waste
Container 1. p. 1-16
Wash Solution. Washes magnetic particles
during the Magnetic Wash step of target
capture.
p. 1-19
Waste Drawer. Drawer located on the right
side of the Lower Bay that holds the MTU
Waste Container, Liquid Waste Container 1,
and Liquid Waste Container 2. p. 1-11
