The sensor interface type CASM-... has an incoming (S1)
connection; see section 2.5.2.
A corresponding input (S2) for connecting the specific
displacement encoder is also available; see Tab. 2/6.

In principle, other potentiometers can be used: Observe the
following:
The potentiometer must have a connection resistance of
3 ... 20 kΩ.
If the potentiometer has worse values for linearity and
temperature coefficient, the measured value will be less
accurate.
To connect it to the sensor interface, you might have to
fabricate a special cable.
