4-44 Installing the Operating System and Utilities
Verify that SNMP is running on the system as follows:
Click [Start], highlight [Settings], and select [Control Panel].

Double-click [Administrative Tools].
2.
Double-click [Services].
3.
Look at the service list. Check that SNMP Services is installed.
4.
If TCP/IP and SNMP Services are installed, go to the next section, "Installing the Agent Software".
If they are not installed, continue as follows.
Installing TCP/IP protocol
a. Click [Start], highlight [Settings], and select [Control Panel].
b. Click [Network and Dial-up Connections], and select [Local Area Connection].
c. In the [Local Area Connection Properties] window, click [Install]. The [Select the Network
Component Type] dialog box appears.
b. Select [Protocol] and click on [Add].
c. From the [Select Network Protocol] dialog box choose [TCP/IP Protocol] and click [OK].
d. Supply the setup disk or CD-ROM when prompted.
e. Highlight [TCP/IP Protocol] in the Network Protocol list and click on [Properties]. Set the
following TCP/IP configuration parameters in the [General] tab:
– IP Address
– Subnet Mask
– Default Gateway, if needed
NOTE
Do not check [Obtain an IP address automatically] since the
:
ESMPRO Manager already contains the Agent's IP address.
Be careful that IP addresses and host names in the same network do not
overlap.
Installing SNMP Service
a. Click [Start], highlight [Settings], and select [Control Panel].
b. Double-click [Add/Remove Programs].
c. Double-click [Add/Remove Windows Components].
d. From the Windows Component Wizard, choose [Management and Monitoring Tools] and
click [Details].
e. Check the [Simple Network Management Protocol] check box, and click [OK].
f. Click [Next].
