DSU II Digital Telephone System
3.1

Using Chapter Three

Since Chapter 3 deals only with the programming of the system, each programming step
includes only a brief explanation of that feature. Therefore, before you begin programming the
system, familiarize yourself with all of the system's features that are discussed in Appendix A.
By doing so, you can be certain that you are programming what the customer wants.
NOTE: Prior to taking any programming action, determine all desired parameters and
requirements. Record this data on the programming reference tables provided in
Chapter 4.

Understanding System Programming

While the Digital Telephone System offers many functional possibilities, it is your programming
that determines the system's operation. You can program the system in two ways: using a
telephone, or using a Video Display Terminal (VDT) or personal computer running
communications software. The programming instructions in this manual detail the telephone
programming method. The VDT programming menu is menu-driven and you can follow its
on-screen directions.
