Open the retaining clip on each end of the VRM connector on the system board.

Turn the VRM so that the VRM keys align correctly with the slot connector.
c.
Firmly press the VRM straight down into the connector by applying pressure on both ends of
the VRM simultaneously.

Make sure that the retaining clips are in the locked position when the VRM is firmly seated in
the connector.
Step 3.
Locate the microprocessor connector on the system board.
Step 4.
Rotate the microprocessor release latch on the socket from its closed and locked position until it
stops in the fully open position.
Attention:
• Do not touch the microprocessor contact; handle the microprocessor by the edges only.
Contaminants on the microprocessor contacts, such as oil from your skin, can cause connection
failures between the contacts and the socket.
• Handle the microprocessor carefully. Dropping the microprocessor during installation or removal
can damage the contacts.
• Do not use excessive force when you press the microprocessor into the socket.
• Make sure that the microprocessor is oriented and aligned and positioned in the socket before
you try to close the latch.
