To replace the side cover, see "Installing the side cover" on page 252.
Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, replace the cover before turning on the server. Operating the
server for extended periods of time (more than 30 minutes) with the cover removed might damage server
components.

Installing the side cover

Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, replace the side cover before turning on the server. Operating
the server for extended periods of time (more than 30 minutes) with the side cover removed might damage
server components.
To install the side cover, complete the following steps.
Step 1.
Make sure that all cables, adapters, and other components are installed and seated correctly
and that you have not left loose tools or parts inside the server. Also, make sure that all internal
cables are correctly routed.
Step 2.
Insert the bottom edge of the cover onto the inside lip of the chassis and rotate the cover toward
the server push it closed to lock it into place.
Step 3.
Lock the side cover.
Note: When you lock the server side cover, it locks both the cover and the bezel.
Step 4.
Reconnect the external cables and power cords; then, turn on the attached devices and turn on
the server.

Removing the air baffle

To remove the air baffle, complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information (see Chapter 2 "Safety information" on page 3).
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
3. Carefully lay the server on its side so that it is lying flat and the cover is facing up.
