SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM
NOTE:
• lf more than two items fail at once, the self-diagnostic indication appears according to priority order.
The indication repeats three times.
• /f the failed item remains, the self-diagnostic indication appears again after turning the ignition switch
"ON".
• After correcting failed item, the self-diagnostic indication appears until the ECM receives the proper
signa/ with the engine running.
• For cylinder temp. sensor, exhaust manifold temp. sensor or IAT sensor the se/f-diagnostic indication
wi/I be canceled after corrective action by turning the ignition switch
"ON".
(The ECM will require 1 O -
20 seconds after turning the ignition switch "ON" to cancel the self-diagnostic indication.)
NOTE 1:
The se/f-diagnostic indication may be canceled by turning ignition switch "ON" because the ECM detects
only battery voltage, not charging output. Under this condition the buzzer wi/I not sound a 1-1 code. How­
ever, if the rectifier and regulator have failed, the self-diagnostic indication will again appear after starting
the engine.
