SAFETY
Running motors too fast (Overspeeding)
• ''Too fast" means running faster than motor normally runs on boat.
Running too fast can happen when:
1) Using a flushing device...
Turn on water before starting motor to
keep motor speed below 2000 RPM.
With no load, motor will run too fast
very easily. Wear eye protectors.
2)
Running with the
wrong test wheel...
This may happen if
motor runs too fast.
Use the right
test wheel
Runnlng motors: Exhaust fumes
• Exhaust gases of running motors contain carbon monoxide. You cannot see it; you cannot smell it; you
cannot taste it, but it is there whenever a motor is running, and it is deadly!
• When you smell the other gases in the exhaust, you are inhaling carbon monoxide. Aun motors only in
well ventilated areas.
Eyes need protection when:

eyes
from:
• Acid
• ·Grinding
• Chiseling
Tip: When steel on steel,
use plastic- or brass-type
hammers. They don't chip
off as easily as steel
hammers.

and paints
