LOWER UNIT
INSPECTION
Propeller Shaft Components
• lnspect horizontal slider and connector pin far excessive
wear or other damage. Replace if necessary.
• lnspect clutch dog shifter far excessive wear, chipping or
other damage. Replace if necessary.
• lnspect dog pin for bent or other damage. Replace if nec­
essary.
• lnspect propeller shaft / splines for wear, twist or other
damage. Replace if necessary.
Shift Rod Guide Housing Components
• lnspect shift rod guide housing far cracks or other damage.
Replace
if
necessary.
• lnspect shifter yoke far excessive wear or other damage.
Replace if necessary.
• lnspect oil seal and 0-ring far wear, cuts, nicks or tears.
• lnspect shift rod and splines for excessive wear, twist or
other damage. Replace if necessary.
• lnspect detent ball for wear, roughness or other damage.
Replace if necessary.
Water Pump and Related ltems
• lnspect impeller vanes for cuts, cracks, tears or excessive
wear. Replace if necessary.
• lnspect pump case and under panel for cracks, distortion
or corrosion. Replace if necessary.
