POWER UNIT
CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY
lnstallation
lnstallation is in reverse order of removal with special atten­
tion to the following steps.
IACAUTION
1
Do not reuse gasket once removed. Always use a new
gasket.
1.
lnsert dowel pins and place cylinder head gasket into
position on cylinder.
2.
Position cylinder head on cylinder.
3. Apply engine oil lightly to cylinder head bolts and tíghten
them gradually as follows.
(a) Tighten ali bolts to 50 percent (%) of specified torque
according to numerical order in figure.

Cylinder head bolt:
1st step
10 mm 35 N-m (3.5 kg-m; 25.5 lb-ft)
8 mm 12 N-m (1.2 kg-m; 8.5 lb-ft)
(b) Loosen all bolts to O N-m (O kg-m; O lb-ft) accordíng to
reverse order in figure.
(e) Again tighten all bolts to 50 percent (%) of specified
torque according to numerical order in figure.

Cylinder head bolt:
3rd step
10 mm 35 N,m (3.5 kg-m; 25.5 lb-ft)
8 mm 12 N-m (1.2 kg-m; 8.5 lb-ft}
(d) Finally tighten all bolts to specified torque according
to numerícal order in figure.

Cylinder head bolt:
Final step
1 O mm 70 N-m (7.0 kg-m; 50.5 lb-ft)
8 mm 23 N-m (2.3 kg-m; 16.5 lb-ft)
NOTE:
Use special too/ (10 mm deep socket wrench) when tighten­
ing cylinder head bolts.

4. Apply engine oil around tappets and install them.
5.
lnstall tappet shims.
6. Apply engine oil to surface of each camshaft lobe and
journal, then install them.
