LOWER UNIT
ASSEMBLY ANO INSTALLATION-140 (NORMAL ROTATION)
Plnlon Nut
Apply Nut Lock to threads of pinion nut. Thread nut onto
driveshaft. DO NOT turn shaft to install nut. Then tighten nut
to specified torque.
~ Pinion nut: 120 N,m (12 kg-m; 86.8 lb-ft)

Propeller Shaft Assembly
1. Slide clutch dog shifter@ onto propeller shaft G).
NOTE:
For correct installation, side of clutch dog shifter which
should tace towards reverse gear is marked with letter "R".
2. lnsert connector pin @ into propeller shaft.
3. Aligíl holes in clutch dog shifter@ and connector pin@,
then slide dog pin @through them.
4. lnstall dog spriílg @, ensuring that it fits snugly into
groove Oíl clutch dog shifter.
Forward Gear Back-Up Shim Adjustment
lnstall forward gear propeller shaft thrust washer onto propel­
ler shaft. Use Needle Bearing Assembly Grease to hold
washer Oíl shaft.
lnsert propeller shaft assembly into forward gear.
Using Special Tools, install propeller shaft bearing housing
assembly into gearcase.

When housing is fully seated, install and tíqhten two bolts to
specified torque.
~ Bearing Housing bolt: 20 N-m
(2.0 kg-m; 14.5 lb-ft)
