LOWER UNIT
ASSEMBLY ANO INSTALLATION-140 (COUNTER ROTATION)
IACAUTION
1
• Make sure that ali parts used in assembly are clean
and lubricated.
• After assembly, check parts for tightness and smooth­
ness of operation.
• Before final assembly, be absolutely certain that ali
gear contact, shim adjustments and tolerances are
correct.
• Failure to correctly adjust these areas will result in
lower unit damage.
Propeller Shaft Bearing Housing Bearing and
Oil Seal
1. Oil then install new bearing in bearing housing using
Bearing lnstaller, P/N 351058. Press against lettered side
of bearing to prevent damage to bearing when installing.

2. Using Oil Seal lnstaller, P/N 326551, install two new pro­
peller shaft seals, (one at a time) with both seal lips fac­
ing up. lnstall seals dry. Apply Triple Guard Grease to
seal lips after installing.

3. lnstall washer and retaining ring.
4. Oil then install a new forward gear bearing into bearing
housing. Using the flat side of Bearing lnstaller, P/N
345824, press against lettered side of bearing. Press
until bearing is flush with machined surface of housing.
Driveshaft Oil Seals
1. Using an installer P/N 914708, drlve two oil seals (one at
a time) into housing. The lipped portien of seal should
tace towards water pump case.
