CAUTION: Avoid bending fiber-optic cable beyond its minimum bend
radius. An arc smaller than a few inches in diameter can damage the cable
and cause problems that are difficult to diagnose.
Use one of the following methods to bring the PIC online:

Press and hold the PIC offline button until the status LED on the PIC faceplate
indicates normal functioning, which usually takes about 5 seconds. The LED is
usually green; for more information, see the M40e Multiservice Edge Router PIC
Guide. For the PICs that install on an Type 1 FPCs, the offline button for each PIC is
next to it on the FPC card carrier. For the PICs that install on an Type 2 FPCs, the
offline button is on the PIC faceplate.
Issue the CLI command:
user@host> request chassis pic fpc-slot fpc-slot pic-slot pic-slot online
For more information about the command, see the Junos System Basics and Services
Command Reference.
The normal functioning status LED confirms that the PIC is online. You can also verify
correct PIC functioning by issuing the
in "Maintaining M40e PICs and PIC Cables" on page 139.
