M40e Chassis Description

The M40e Multiservice Edge Router chassis is a rigid sheet metal structure that houses
the other hardware components. The chassis is 17.5 in. (44.5 cm) wide and 29 in. (73.6 cm)
deep. The chassis height of 35 in. (89 cm) enables stacked installation of two M40e
routers in a single floor-to-ceiling rack. For more information, see "M40e Rack Size and
Strength" on page 69.
The two front support posts and center-mounting brackets (one on each side) extend
the chassis width to 19 in. (48.3 cm).
The chassis includes the following electrical safety components:
Two electrostatic discharge (ESD) points (banana plug receptacles), one front and
one rear, as shown in Figure 1 on page 9 and Figure 2 on page 10
Two internally threaded grounding points, as shown in Figure 2 on page 10
Figure 1 on page 9, Figure 2 on page 10, and Figure 3 on page 10 show three views of the
router chassis.
