Network Security

Enabling the Network Server Mode feature through the Compaq System
Configuration Utility allows you to boot the computer from a hard drive,
network server, or host while the keyboard and pointing device interface are
disabled. This provides security if the computer operates unattended. In
Network Server Mode, the system boots without asking for the Power-On
Password. You must enable the Power-On Password before you can enable
Network Server Mode.
To enable the input devices, you must enter a Power-On Password. The
password remains in effect until the Network Server Mode is disabled or the
password is deleted or disabled. If you try to boot from a diskette while the
Network Server Mode is enabled, you must enter the Power-On Password for
the boot to complete.

Hardware Security

Compaq hardware also includes a number of built-in security features such as
switches, front bezel locks, and cable locks on servers.
