TIP
Replace if there is an open or short circuit.
• Between rear wheel sensor coupler and ABS ECU coupler.
(Black–Black)
(White–White)
• Between ABS ECU coupler and ECU (engine control unit) coupler.
(White/Yellow–White/Yellow)
• Between ECU coupler and meter assembly coupler.
(Light green/Blue–Light green/Blue)
(Light green/White–Light green/White)

The tachometer fails to operate.

1. Check the crankshaft position sen-
sor.
Refer to "CHECKING THE CRANK-
SHAFT POSITION SENSOR" on
page 8-242.
OK
2. Check the entire signaling system
wiring.
Refer to "CIRCUIT DIAGRAM" on
page 8-35.
OK
Replace the ECU or meter assembly.

The ambient temperature meter fails to operate.

1. Check the air temperature sensor.
Refer to "CHECKING THE INTAKE
AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR" on
page 8-249.

2. Check the entire signaling system
wiring.
Refer to "CIRCUIT DIAGRAM" on
page 8-35.
OK
Replace the ECU or meter assembly.

The V-belt replacement indicator fails to come on.

1. Check the entire signaling system
wiring.

Replace the meter assembly.
Replace the stator coil.
