imbalance is handled by the system transparently; it does not cause any
disruption to application I/O, data durability, or failovers.
Important: The system must be in a stable state before scaling up. The scale up
job checks data safety levels when it starts. If the system is freshly installed, or if
you just completed an initial scale up, wait 10-15 minutes for the system to
stabilize and start recording data safety levels. This is particularly important if
you purchased multiple columns for an initial install. Systems that have been
running for some time may have a data safety issue as reported in ActiveScale
SM. You must resolve any data safety issues before attempting to scale up. If the
data safety of the system is not optimal or there are failed drives, fix the issues by
replacing the drives before starting this procedure.
Warning: You can only do one scale up at a time.
You must complete the scale up of one system before starting the scale up of
another system. Even on multi-site deployments, you can only scale up one
system at one site at a time. Because the scale up kits are factory installed to be
