Turning on the power

This section explains how to turn on the power.
Data destruction
Turn on the power to the console terminal (connected to a serial port) after turning on
the power to the main unit. If the console terminal is turned on before turning on the
main unit, and the mode switch is set to UNLOCK or MAINTENANCE, a Break signal
may cause the destruction of data by changing the state of the machine to OBP (ok
prompt) during the Solaris Operating Environment operation.
4If the main unit employs software for automatic power control and the mode
switch is set to UNLOCK or LOCK, plugging a power cable into an outlet may
automatically turn on the power. To prevent such an occurrence, set the mode
switch to MAINTENANCE before plugging the power cable into the outlet.
• Procedure

Turn on the power of the console terminal and the peripheral units.

Press the power switch on the operator panel of the main unit.
The POWER LED on the main unit and the power lamps on peripheral units
connected through the RCI port light. The power switch is disabled if the mode switch
is set to LOCK.
Turning on the power at the keyboard is not supported.
