Adding disk drives

• Built-in disk drive bay of main unit
The PRIMEPOWER850 rack-mount type (16U) server can accommodate up to four
built-in, hot swappable Ultra SCSI disk drives. Each disk drive bay is provided with
an ACCESS LED and an "Insertion/extraction" LED.
The ACCESS LED lamp lights in green when the disk drive unit is operating (reading
or writing). The "Insertion/extraction" LED lights based on the swapping procedure
during hot swapping.
• Hot swapping the disk drives
Data destruction
Contact a certified service engineer if a hard disk drive must be hot swapped.
Data may be lost if the hot swap procedure is not performed correctly.
4Users must use disk mirroring software to mirror the hard disk drives before the
hot swapping feature can be used. The disk mirroring software
"PRIMECLUSTER GDS" is available from Fujitsu/Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
The disk drive units installed in the main unit can be hot swapped. To execute hot
swapping, monitor the ACCESS LED and "Insertion/extraction" LED by using the
machine administration tool included in the Enhanced Support Facility.

Guide supplied with the Enhanced Support Facility.
