Adding PCI cards
4The use of 17 or more PCI slots requires prior installation of a PCI slot
expansion unit. For details, see
PCI cards are classified into three types: (1) PCI cards designed to operate in a 3.3 V
slot, (2) PCI cards designed to operate in a 5 V slot, and (3) PCI cards (universal type)
designed to operate in either a 3 V or 5 V slot. Most PCI cards operate with a 33 MHz
clock, but some PCI cards operate with a 66 MHz clock. To install a PCI card, select
an appropriate slot according to

This item indicates the PCI bus group.
Each PCI slot has a 64-bit width. A 64-bit or 32-bit PCI card can be
inserted.
The operation-enabled frequency of the slot. A PCI card that can operate
with a 33 or 66-MHz clock operates on a frequency of 66 MHz.
The voltage level of a PCI card that can be inserted into the slot.
- A PCI card that can only operate on 3.3 V can operate in a 3.3 V slot,
but cannot operate in a 5 V slot.
- A PCI card that can only operate on 5 V can operate in a 5 V slot, but
cannot operate in a 3.3 V slot.
