CHAPTER 1 Features of the PRIMEPOWER850/650
• Reliability, Availability and Serviceability (RAS) Features
ECC or parity protects the data for components and interfaces.
Components and interface
Processor (on-chip & external cache)
Memory
Data path
Address path
I/O bus (PCI)
Processor operation
Built-in basic SCSI, LAN
Note:
ECC or parity does not protect the RS-232C serial interface .
l Power-on diagnostics are conducted on system components such as processors and
memory.
l Automatic System Reconfiguration (ASR) isolates fault conditions to
malfunctioning hardware components such as processors and memory modules
immediately after fault detection.
l A SCF (System Control Facility), which has an integrated service processor,
monitors the operation of the SPARC64 V processors, environmental temperature,
power and fans.
l Status of LEDs and messages on the LCD panel indicate the current status when an
error occurs.
l The RCI (Remote Cabinet Interface) provides control over expansion I/O unit
(such as the Expansion File Unit) power cycling and monitors for errors.
l Internal disk drives are hot swappable. The standard configuration supports
redundant hot-swappable fans (N+1). Power supplies are hot swappable if the
redundant option or dual power feed option is installed.
