Configuring the Remote Supervisor Adapter

Configuring the Remote Supervisor Adapter
This section describes the steps required to configure the Remote Supervisor Adapter (RSA) on the
Avaya S8500 Media Server. The components of this procedure include:
Connecting and logging in to the Remote Supervisor Adapter
Configuring the Remote Supervisor Adapter
Backing up the configuration
Restoring Advanced System Management configurations
Modifying a file
Setting auto answer on the RSA
Updating RSA or BIOS firmware on page
Logging off the Remote Supervisor Adapter
The RSA monitors and reports alerts on the Avaya S8500 Media Server components and provides control
to power-on and power-off the S8500. Using a browser, the Advanced System Management (ASM) Web
interface administers the RSA.
The RSA is installed in PCI-X slot 1 of the Avaya S8500 Media Server. Although all the software needed
to use the RSA comes installed from the factory, you still need to configure the RSA before you use it.
The RSA comes loaded from the factory with Avaya defaults. Not all fields could be set to a default.
!
Executing the Restore Defaults option in the navigation pane removes the Avaya defaults. Avaya
defaults can be restored manually using the information found in
or by restoring the default file. The Avaya default file can be found at
on the Communication Manager 2.0 CD for Linux Servers and Gateways. For instructions on
restoring the default file, see the Configuration File in the
Guide.
