Crankshaft Journal Bearing Inspection and
Selection
Refer to "Engine Bottom Side Disassembly (Page 1D-
58)".
Refer to "Engine Bottom Side Assembly (Page 1D-65)".
Inspection
1) Inspect each upper and lower crankcase bearings
(1) for any damage.

2) Inspect the crankshaft journal for any damage.
3) Measure the crankshaft O.D. with the special tool. If
any of the measurements are out of specification,
replace the crankshaft.
Special tool
(A): 09900–20202 (Micrometer (1/100 mm,
25 – 50 mm))
Crankshaft journal O.D.
Standard: 41.985 – 42.000 mm (1.6529 – 1.6535
in)
Selection
1) Select the specified bearings from the crankcase

journal I.D. codes. The crankcase journal I.D. codes
((A), (B) or (C)) "A", is stamped on the inside of each
crankcase half.
CAUTION
!
The bearings should be replaced as a set.
