SHIFT LINKAGE—CJ MODELS
The shift lever is connected to the transfer case shift
rails through rods and nonadjustable links (fig. 2D-17).
The support tube connects to the transfer case and is

retained by capscrews. Locating holes are drilled in the
support tube at the transfer case end to maintain link-
age alignment.
On CJ models with 3-speed transmission, the transfer
case must be removed in order to remove the shift lever
support tube.
