Power and Start-up

Symptom
The system does not start
or respond in any way.
The system starts in the
software update screen.
The system restarts over
and over.
The system does not power
off when you press the
power switch.
(VSX 7000e, VSX 8000)
Problem
The power switch is off.
Note: VSX 3000 systems
have three power switches.
The power cord is not
connected.
The power outlet is not
active, or the system's
power supply is not
operating properly.
The power switch was
pressed for too long.
(VSX 7000e, VSX 8000)
This is normal.
The system software is
corrupted or not loaded
properly.
The power plug is not fully
seated.
The socket is corroded.
The power plug is damaged
or the power supply is bad.
The power switch was not
pressed for long enough.
This is normal.
Diagnostics and General Troubleshooting
Corrective action
Turn on the power switches for the system and all
equipment connected to it.
VSX 3000, VSX 5000, VSX 6000:
Make sure the power pack is connected to a power
outlet, and that its power cords are seated securely.
VSX 7000, VSX 7000s:
Make sure that the system is connected to the
subwoofer and that the subwoofer is connected to a
power outlet. The power for the system is supplied by
the subwoofer, so it must be connected in order for
the system to work.
VSX 7000e, VSX 8000:
Make sure that the system's power cord is in place,
and that it is connected to a power outlet.
Check the power outlet by unplugging the system
and plugging in a lamp, radio, or other small
appliance. If it does not operate, the outlet is not
active — connect the system to a different outlet.
If the outlet is active, the problem could be in the
system's power supply. In this case, call Polycom
Technical Support and arrange to return the system
for service.
To power up the system, press and release the
power button.
Load the system software from your computer. For
instructions on how to do this, refer to
Software Current
on page 3-27.
Make sure the power plug is seated securely.
Unplug and reseat the power plug 5 times.
Return the system for service.
Press and hold the power switch for one second to
power off.
