Accessing the Discs

The StorPoint CD makes your networked CD/DVD-ROMs available to anyone
who has the appropriate privileges on the network. Users will access the
StorPoint CD just as any other workstation or file server.
The way you access the StorPoint CD resources depends on your network
environment:
Network environments
Windows 95/98 & Windows NT
Windows for Workgroups 3.x
Windows NT 3.51
OS/2 Warp 4
IBM Peer for OS/2
DOS
The examples will assume that you have not changed the default server

name. The default server name is AXIS<nnnnnn> where <nnnnnn> are the
six last digits of the StorPoint CD serial number. If you have changed the
server name, use the new name where the examples refer to the default
name.
Depending on the access rights set up by the Administrator, you might be

prompted to supply a password or receive a message similar to '
' when trying to access a shared resource on the StorPoint CD. The

In the Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4 environments, you can install

the AXIS StorPoint Disco utility, which is a powerful Windows application
for locating and using CD/DVD-ROMs located on AXIS storage servers,
wherever they are on your network. Refer to "AXIS StorPoint DISCO " on
page 42.
To specify the general settings for an inserted disc, follow these steps:
1. Start your Web browser, and enter the name or IP address of the StorPoint
CD in the location/address field.
2. Click admin. You will be prompted for the Server password. By default, this

4. Locate the desired disc in the file Volumes folder.
