Configuring using ManageTrends

In order to do this the administrator must connect to the ManageTrends of the Master
node, and then access the UPS configuration page by browsing through the Control Panel
of the ManageTrends. The following screenshots show how to get to the UPS
configuration page and configure the node as Master.

UPS Configuration Page

The UPS configuration page the mode of the configuration must be selected to be
"Master/Single" for the Master node and "Slave" for the slave nodes. Further, for the
Master Node the type of UPS connected, and the port through which it is connected must
be specified. The type of UPS supported could be one of APC Smart, Powerware or USB
HID. APC Smart and Powerware UPS systems could be connected to either one of the
two COM ports available in the StorTrends units; the USB UPS systems can be
connected to any of the USB ports available. The port to which the UPS is connected
must also be selected in the UPS configuration page in the Master node. Apart from this
the configuration page in the ManageTrends has two fields specifying how long the
systems can be run on UPS, when the A/C power is down. One field specifies the amount
of battery charge in UPS below which the StorTrends iTX nodes must be shutdown
gracefully; and the other specifies the minimum amount of time till which the StorTrends
box can be run on UPS. If either one of the condition is met the StorTrends boxes will
execute a graceful shutdown, thereby preventing any potential data loss for the
applications.
