FTP Upgrade Procedure

The FTP Upgrade Procedure is not supported for every StorTrends build. As of
StorTrends build 2.7.0001, you must use the Command Line Interface to upgrade the
StorTrends software.
The following upgrade steps will apply for all future updates to the 2.7.xxxx build.

Logout of all your iSCSI connections and disconnect all NAS shares. The upgrade process
reboots your system.

Copy the upgrade file(s) that you have received into an FTP folder. If you do not have an
FTP server handy, please refer to the section, Using StorTrends as an FTP Server. If the
upgrade file is compressed, you must uncompress it first.

Log directly into your Storage Appliance through your Internet browser.

Click Update from Control Panel->System Settings->Update

Enter the FTP Server IP address, FTP Path, FTP user name and FTP password. For more
information on how to provide the path refer to section Path Information Configuration.

Click Update, after a few seconds, it should say success. If it reports an error, verify that
the path is correct. Refer to the section Path Information Configuration.

The upgrade process happens in the background. After it is complete, the Storage
Appliance will automatically reboot.

After it reboots, log on to the Storage Appliance through your Internet browser and check
the event log for the Storage Appliance. It should report Upgrade Success.

FTP Upgrade Procedure (Using ManageTrends)

The FTP Upgrade Procedure is not supported for every ManageTrends build. As of
StorTrends build 2.5.1017, you must use the Command Line Interface to upgrade the
ManageTrends software.

Install StorTrends® version 2.7. If you already have the most current version of
StorTrends®, skip this step.

Copy the upgrade file(s) that you have received into an FTP folder. If you do not have an
FTP server handy, please refer to the section, Using StorTrends as an FTP Server. If the
upgrade file is compressed, you must uncompress it first.

Launch ManageTrends® 2.7 from your Internet browser and log on to the Storage
Appliance.

Click Update from Control Panel->System Settings->Update

Click Update, after a few seconds, it should say success. If it reports an error, verify that

After reboot, logon to the box using ManageTrends® and check the event log for the
Storage Appliance. It should report Upgrade Success.
