Setting up Mutual CHAP

Step
Description
1
Install the latest build of the StorTrends software.
2
Configure at least one local user (minimum of 12 characters in password) and a Volume with iSCSI
support. Create a LUN and assign to a target. Enable that.
3
Register your iSCSI Initiator with the iSNS server. To do so, enter the IP address of the server into the
iSNS Servers tab of the MS Initiator applet.
4
Click on iSCSI under Control Panel header in navigation tree then click on the iSNS icon.
5
Enable iSNS. Then enter and apply the IP address of the iSNS server. Click on Refresh to get the Server
Status to Up-to-date.
6
Click on Authentication icon in Control panel, and then on Rescan list button as necessary, to see the
name of the Initiator on the list.
7
Select that Initiator and then enter and confirm a secret for it. Click on Apply.
8
On the Initiator machine, pull up the MS Initiator applet again. Click on the Initiator Settings tab.
9
Enter the same secret you entered in Step 7. Click on Set password button.
10
Pull up the Security page for the iSCSI LUN. Give that User and that Initiator exclusive permission to
the space.
11
On MS Initiator applet, click on Available Targets tab. You should see the name of your Target.
12
Select that Target. Click on Log On button.
13
Click on the Advanced button. Enable the CHAP button. Enter the username and password for the User
next to Username and Target Secret respectively. Enable Mutual Authentication.
14
Click on OK. Click on OK again on the next screen.
15
You should now be able to access the new iSCSI space from Disk Management on the initiator machine
(as a Physical drive).
