Management Information Base. Database of managed objects used by SNMP to provide
network management information.
Multiplexer.
Network Access Module. A type of CCA that accesses or interfaces with the network.
An error condition in which two out of four synchronization bits are in error.
Off-Premises Extension.
An industry-wide term that means Packet Assembly and Disassembly. The term PAD is
used extensively in X.25 networks, but can apply generally to any packet switched
networks such as Frame Relay.
Private Branch Exchange.
Protocol Data Unit.
Pulse Density Violation.
Private Line Automatic Ringdown.
Point-to-Point Protocol. A link layer protocol used by SNMP.
Public Switched Telephone Network.
Quasi-Random Signal. A test pattern simulating a random pattern of digital ones and zeros
used to simulate normal transmission.
Robbed Bit Signaling. Signaling used for voice-call processing over a T1 line.
Routing Information Protocol. Specifies the routing protocol used between access units.
Severely Errored Seconds. A second with 320 or more CRC6 error events or one or more
OOFs occurring.
Serial Line Internet Protocol. A link layer protocol used by SNMP.
Simple Network Management Protocol. A generic network management system that
allows the device to be managed by any industry-standard SNMP manager.
Unavailable Seconds. A count of 1-second intervals when service is unavailable.
Volts alternating current.
Voice Frequency.
A logical link/connection or packet-switching mechanism established between two devices
at the start of transmission.
An outgoing signal transmitted when a DS1 terminal has determined that it has lost the
incoming signal.
