Function description
}
The OFF state of the OSSD is activated within the configured delay time when the follow-
ing condition is met:
– With at least 700 consecutive light beams from the safety laser scanner, the return
}
The ON state of the OSSD is reactivated 120 ms after the condition for at least 50 con-
secutive light beams from the 70° wide sector is no longer met. The light beams must
cover an area of at least 5° width.
Situations that may lead to activation of the OFF state as a result of monitoring:
}
Up to a maximum working distance of 50 m there are no objects on a part of the scanning
area.
}
In the danger zone covered by the light beams of the safety laser scanner there are ob-
jects. Due to their low diffuse reflectivity they do no produce a sufficiently strong return
signal (echo).
Examples:
– Objects with a diffuse reflectivity of 1.8 % may not be detected at a distance of > 8 m
– Objects with a diffuse reflectivity of 18 % may not be detected at a distance of > 22 m
}
The front screen of a safety laser scanner is concealed within the detection limit area (by
a cloth, for example); the area covered by the laser beams will be partly or completely ob-
scured.
}
In the area covered by light beams there are reflective areas that are positioned in a way
that the incoming light beams from the receive area of the safety laser scanner are de-
flected.

WARNING!
Loss of safety function due to deactivation of manipulation protection
Depending on the application, serious injury or death may result.
By deactivating manipulation protection, manipulations that lead to the loss
of the safety function may remain undetected.
– Carry out a safety assessment each time manipulation protection is
modified.
signal (echo) that is received is of insufficient strength. The area covered by the light
beams corresponds to at least a sector of 70° width.
