3.4 Connection of the measuring sensor(s)
Up to two measuring sensors can be connected to this Quick Read Microcolumn.
Connection of one measuring sensor: the sensor is normally directly connected to the
Lumberg connector of the Quick Read.
Connection of two measuring sensors: the sensors are connected to the Lumberg connector
of the Quick Read by means of the Y-cable code 6735532001 (see picture below). Both sensors
must have the same measuring range since the programming variable M. RANGE is one and
defines pre-fixed measuring ranges. Sensors having different range may have a different
sensitivity which can affect the measuring value.
NOTE
A single sensor can be connected to the Quick Read even using the Y-cable. In this
case it must be connected to the connector 1 (CH.1) because the channel 1 is the
default channel when only one sensor is connected.
The variable PROBE of the main menu allows to program the number of sensors to be
connected. Choose Probe1 if one sensor is connected, Probe1&2 if two sensors are connected.
3.5 Pretravel check on the measuring sensor
This function allows, if programmed, to check the transducer's efficiency. The PreTRAV1 and
PreTRAV2 variables are programmable in the range from – 0,040 to – 5,000 mm (- .00155" to -
.19685") and allow to limit the pretravel value of the transducer.
If a single sensor is connected to the Quick Read (PROBE = Probe1), in the main menu only the
variable PreTRAV1 appears; if two sensors are connected (PROBE = Probe1&2), both variables
PreTRAV1 and PreTRAV2 appear.
Using this function the transducer is over range (OVER RNG is displayed) when it is not in
measuring position (i.e. when the transducer position is corresponding to a value bigger than the
programmed pretravel value).
The transducer might be damaged if the gauge is free and a measuring value (typically near to
zero) is displayed.
The following table shows what is displayed when this check is enabled, according to the
number of connected transducers.
