Acquiring and Displaying Ranges to a
Remote Modem Continuously
Ranges to a remote modem can be acquired continuously by sending the
range command at the end of each timeout. To acquire and display ranges
continuously, acquire and display ranges as described in "Acquiring and
Displaying the Range to a Remote Modem" on page 4-18, and touch Repeat
before touching Get Range. To stop ranging, touch Cancel Repeat Range in
the information window.
Acquiring and Displaying Status Information
from a Remote Modem
The status of a remote modem can be acquired and displayed at any time.
However, for SMART releases and modems, the status must be acquired
before they can be released.
To acquire and display status information from a remote modem:
1. Touch the Release/Range function button.
The Release/Range screen opens.
2. Select Benthos Smart Release/Modem from the drop-down list.
The Benthos Smart Release/Modem pop-up opens.
3. Touch the Remote Address setting.
The remote address keypad opens.
4. Enter the address of the SMART
release or modem, and then touch
OK. To backspace and delete a
character, touch the Delete pad.
The keypad closes and the
address is displayed as the
Remote Address Setting.
5. Touch Update Status.
The status command is sent and
an information window temporarily
opens indicating that the status is
updating. When the status
information is acquired, it's receipt
is acknowledged in another information window as shown in Figure 4-26,
along with the type of SMART release or modem.
