To configure the power saver settings:
1. Touch the Display function button.
The Display screen opens.
2. When in Save mode, the Screen mode button indicates Screen mode:
Save. In Normal mode it indicates Screen mode: Normal. Touch the
button repeatedly to select Save mode.
3. Touch the Timeout setting. This
setting is only available when in
Save mode.
A drop-down list opens as shown in
Figure 4-14.
4. Select the time in minutes after
which to turn the displays off. A
selection of Dim will only dim the
backlight; the displays will remain
visible at all times.
5. Touch Exit to close the Display
screen.

Configuring the Serial Ports

There are two serial ports, COM1 and COM2. COM1, which can be
configured for RS-232 or RS-422 operation, connects to a PC and is used for
external control of the acoustic telemetry modem function of the UDB-9000.
This serial port is also used to send and receive data. COM2, which is
configured for RS-232 operation only, also connects to a PC and is used to
emulate the DS-7000 Acoustic Deck Set external interface.
COM2 can also be disabled or set to enable CLAM Shell pass-through, which
allows two devices, such as PCs, to be separately connected to the deck box
using the two COM ports. The two devices can independently and seamlessly
communicate with two separate remote modems.
To configure the COM1 serial port:
1. Touch the Display function button.
The Display screen opens.
2. Touch COM1 Settings.
The COM1 Configuration pop-up opens as shown in Figure 4-15.
