NOTE The Range Options pop-up is also available on the Remote tabs of
the Modem Comms and Modem Config screens where as many as three
modem addresses can be entered, one on each tab. The ranges are
displayed on the tabs in the Modem Config screen.
6. Touch Change Settings.
The Transpond Parameters pop-up
opens as shown in Figure 4-24.
7. Using the up or down arrow, select
the deck box timeout in seconds of
the deck box.
The timeout determines how long
after transmitting a range command
the deck box waits to receive the
range information. When sending
multiple range commands, it is the
time between them.
8. Touch Exit to close the Transpond Parameters pop-up.
9. Touch Get Range.
The range command is sent and an
information window temporarily
opens confirming the sent
command along with the SMART
release or modem address. In
addition, "Ranging..." flashes in the
Benthos Smart Release/Modem
pop-up. When the range is
acquired, it is displayed in another
temporary information window in
units of meters or feet as shown in
Figure 4-25, along with the round
trip time in milliseconds. Refer to
"Selecting the Beep and Units
Preferences" on page 4-14 to select meters or feet for the range display.
The same range information is also displayed in the Benthos Smart
Release/Modem pop-up along with an "OK" indication. If the range is not
acquired, a no response indication is displayed in the information window
and "Timed Out" is displayed in the pop-up.
