2.27 Secure the plugged end of the calibrator by
raising the lower floating bus bar to the upper
limit and tightening both Allen screws.
2.28 Lower the thermocouple through the upper
section of the calibrator and coat the thermo-
couple tip with silicone grease to prevent it
from sticking to the Lead.
2.29 Lower the thermocouple into the well so that it
presses lightly against upper surface of the
solid Lead.
CAUTION: the thermocouple must be touching
the Lead.

2.30 Press ENTER to heat the Lead. The tempera-
ture will increase as the Lead is heated. The
screen will display "Please wait" while the
Lead is heated. (If the thermocouple is already
inserted into the Lead, proceed to Step 2.33.)
2.31 Adjust the COOLING FLOW to the center
of the green range (this corresponds to
38 +/- 8 L/h).
2.32 The temperature will increase to 357°C. At this
time the screen display will prompt "INSERT
THERMOCOUPLE".
Carefully lower the thermocouple to the bottom
of the well, noting the total distance of travel on
the slide assembly scale. Raise it 5 mm. Be
sure the thermocouple is centered in well
before proceeding to the next step.
NOTE - If the depth of the Lead is not at least 8
mm refill the well with a new charge of Lead
pellets in accordance with the instructions in
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE in the Maintenance
Manual. Restart the AUTOCAL TC procedure.
