A3. HEATER TUBE TEMPERATURE PRO-
FILE
A3.1
To measure the heater tube tempera-
ture profile, the following procedure
should be followed after the second
half hour of the test but before a
significant DP has been obtained.
A3.2
Press F1 to switch the Heater Mode to
MAN. Observe for temperature drifts.
Press F3 or F4 to increase or decrease
the HEATER POWER as required to
maintain the TUBE TEMP at the
desired SETPOINT. If no temperature
drift is observed for 30 s, proceed to
the next step.
A3.3
Set the thermocouple to the following
positions in sequence to obtain their
respective temperatures. The top of
the slide is the position pointer on the
scale. Each mark on the scale is 2mm.
At each position, record the indicated TUBE
TEMP. Allow the temperature to be stable for 5
seconds before recording the indicated tempera-
ture.
A3.4
If the temperature at the 39 mm
position has drifted more than ± 2°C
from the initial value, readjust the
HEATER POWER and begin again at
the 56 mm position. If drift is less than
± 2°C proceed to position 32 mm.
A3.5
Return the thermocouple to the 39 mm
position. Again, if this temperature has
drifted in excess of ± 2°C, readjust the
HEATER POWER and repeat the
above procedure.

A4 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

The JFTOT II requires routine maintenance be
performed to ensure proper and accurate operation.
Following is a list of items which require routine
maintenance. Refer to the Maintenance Manual for
specifications and procedures.
• Calibrate (AutoCal) thermocouple
• Standardize DP transducers
• Verify fuel flow rate
• AutoCal calibrator (Tin replacement)
• AutoCal calibrator (Lead replacement)
• Thermocouple replacement and position adjustment
• Clean bus bar contacts
• Aeration dryer assembly
• Lubricate drive pump assembly
