3. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

3.1 AUTOCAL CALIBRATOR TIN RE-
PLACEMENT
1. The Tin in the Tin AutoCal Calibrator should
be replaced whenever:
a. it has been used to perform six AutoCals,
b. it is contaminated and seems erratic, or
c. the quantity is below the minimum level.
2. To remove the Tin, install the Tin AutoCal
Calibrator inverted between the upper fixed
bus bar and the lower floating bus bar.
3. Place a paper tissue or rag under the well to
catch the molten Tin.
4. Remove the thermocouple slide assembly
from the top of the scale. Touch the thermo-
couple tip to the bottom of the well containing
the Tin (the bottom is facing up).
5. While viewing the initial AutoCal display
"PERFORM CALIBRATION?" press F1
(remove stuck thermocouple) to apply power
to melt the Tin. At the same time lightly tap
the well until all the molten Tin has dropped
out. If required, repeat the procedure (press-
ing F1) until all the Tin has dropped out.
6. Set the thermocouple slide assembly back on
top of the scale assembly. The JFTOT will
turn the heater off and display the initial
AutoCal screen.
7. Remove the AutoCal Calibrator and wipe
inside of the well to remove any loose debris.
WARNING - Calibrator is hot.
Install the AutoCal Calibrator in the upright
position and refill with new Tin. The proper
amount of Tin for one filling is 1.6 ± 0.5 g (about
5 pellets). Adjust the thermocouple until the tip is
in contact with the Tin.
8. While viewing the initial AutoCal display
"PERFORM CALIBRATION?" press F1
(remove stuck thermocouple) to apply power
to melt the Tin. When the Tin has melted,
raise the thermocouple to remove it from the
Tin. The JFTOT will turn the heater off and
