4. CHECKING VALIDITY OF FUEL FLOW RATE

4.1
The calibration of the flow rate is internal and
not accessible to the user. The following
procedure can be used to ensure that the flow
rate is within the limits required for the test.
Systems with flow rates failing this criteria
should be serviced by a qualified technician. A
detailed discussion of the flow system is given
in the Appendix of the Operation Manual.
4.2
During a D3241 or CUSTOM test, place a
clean beaker under the drip tube when the
heater turns on. Remove the beaker when the
heater turns off. Record the elapsed time the
heater is on.

Pour the water into a clean graduated cylinder.
Measure the volume to the nearest mm.
4.4
Calculate the flow rate:

4.5
Flow rate should be very close to the specified
rate for the test (3.0 mL/min for D3241). Flow
Rate errors in excess of 10% invalidate the
test; contact Alcor Technical Service with
details. The JFTOT II should maintain the flow
rate within 0.1 mL/min of the specified flow
rate.
