3.5 AERATION DRYER REPLACEMENT

1. The silica gel, located inside the aeration
dryer, must be replaced when it is no longer
blue in color.
2. Pry one cap from the end of the housing.
Pour out and discard the old silica gel. Pour
new "blue" silica gel into the housing. Do not
discard the cotton filter located in the end
cap. This cotton filter ensures that the silica
gel remains in the housing. Push the end cap
onto the housing.
3.6 LUBRICATING DRIVE PUMP
ASSEMBLY
1. The drive pump should be lubricated:
a. once a year, or
b. whenever fuel leaks into the drive pump
assembly.
2. Two grease fittings are provided to lubricate
the Drive Pump Assembly. Use a multi-
purpose wheel bearing grease containing a
molybdenum disulfide (moly) compound.
Attach a grease gun containing the Moly
grease to each grease fitting. Add grease
until grease is seen pushing out from bearings
or drive shaft.

3. If the fuel leaks into the bottom bearings of
the drive pump assembly, replace the drive
column o-ring. Turn the plunger shaft
counter-clockwise (ccw) to unscrew the
shaft from the nut. Pull the plunger shaft out
of the column to expose the o-ring near the
top of the column. Replace o-ring and check
drain hole/line for obstruction. Reassemble
drive pump in reverse order. Make sure the
plunger shaft is completely screwed on to nut
before running a test.
3.7 CHECKING AND ADJUSTING DRIVE
PUMP GEARBELT TENSION
1. Check the gearbelt tension once a year and
adjust as required.
2. Check gearbelt tension by applying pressure
on its center by pushing inward. Belt move-
ment should be 3/16" nominal (1/4" Max. to
1/8" Min.).
3. To adjust the tension, loosen the four motor
mount screws (in slots) under the base plate.
Slide mount in or out until there is 3/16" play
on center of belt. Tighten the two motor
mount screws closest to the column, and then
the remaining two screws. Recheck the belt
tension and repeat the adjustment procedure
if necessary.

4. Replace gearbelt:
a. if proper belt tension can not be achieved,
b. if gearbelt is frayed or otherwise dam-
aged.
