a. Press ENTER to see an error information
screen. This will prevent the timer from
shutting off the air pump.
b. Wait the extended time period, then press
any key to return to the setup screen. The air
pump will turn off and the total aeration time
will be recorded.
6. When the airflow has shut off, remove the aeration
tube from the fuel reservoir. To purge fuel from
the aeration tube and diffuser, touch ENTER and
then any key when finished.
NOTE – the time purging fuel from the aeration
tube is not recorded and not added to the aera-
tion time.

4.8 - FUEL RESERVOIR SECTION

Remove the filter/aeration funnel from the fuel
reservoir. Some fuel may spill over the top of the
reservoir. Screw the fuel reservoir cover in place,
taking care the O-ring stays in the groove. Remove
the fuel reservoir from the stand and wipe the outside
of the reservoir to remove any fuel. Screw the fuel
reservoir on to the drive assembly. Attach the

reservoir outlet line to the top of the prefilter and
finger tighten snugly. Attach the reservoir outlet line
to the heater tube housing inlet and finger tighten
snugly. When running a 1 ∆P test on a Model 240,
cap the unused port fitting with a thumb-nut cap. The
apparatus is now ready for the test.

4.9 SETTING OF CONTROLS

Set the heater tube temperature Setpoint to the
specified heater tube control temperature. JFTOT
tests can be run at a maximum tube temperature of
380°C and a minimum of 180°C. The temperature at
which the test should be run, and criteria for judging a
pass/ fail result are normally embodied in fuel the
specifications.
For a CUSTOM test:
a. Press STEP for the secondary SETUP screen.
Key the test time and flowrate specified. Default
values at power up are 150 minutes and 3.0 mL/
min. After that, the values are the same as used
on the previous test. Press EXIT to return to the
primary SETUP screen.
b. (240 only) press F2 to select the number of ∆P
filters to test (1∆P or 2∆P).
