Measure and record the amount of water collected in
the beaker from the air trap drip line (graduated
cylinder, nearest 1 mL). This amount is equal to the
amount of Fuel Displaced during the test, and is to be
recorded on the report as the "Pumped Fuel Vol-
ume". The Elapsed Time is recorded on the report as
TOTAL TEST TIME.
Calculate the fuel flow rate as follows:
Fuel Displaced
___________
Flow Rate =
Elapsed Time
The calculated flow rate should be within 0.1mL/min
of the FLOW RATE specified for the test and on the
report. See Technical Specifications in the Appendix.
WARNING HOT SURFACES - the
heater test section and lines will be
hot. To prevent burns, allow them to
cool before touching.

DISASSEMBLY

Disconnect and remove the lines. Raise the heater
tube thermocouple to the top of the sliding scale
assembly.
Remove the heater test section. Remove the right
hand Allen cap screws from each bus bar. Loosen
the left hand Allen screws three or four turns each,
but do not remove. Rotate the bus caps and remove
the heater tube test section.
Disassemble the heater test section. Using tweezers,
remove the test filter and O-ring from the discharge
chamber and discard. Remove the hex nuts and
shoulder insulators. Slide the heater tube out of the
Page 26
housing. Do not touch the tube in the area that the
fuel contacts. Remove and discard the O-rings. Save
the insulators for use later. While wearing gloves,
hold the heater tube so that it points upwards from
fingers. Flush the heater tube with solvent.
After the solvent has evaporated from the heater
tube, place the heater tube in the original plastic
container and seal it with a cap. Mark it with the
appropriate identification. The tube must be rated and
the information added to the report: see section 5.
HEATER TUBE DEPOSIT RATING.
Unscrew and remove the fuel reservoir and place in
a cleaning pan. Unscrew and remove the fuel
reservoir cover and empty the fuel into the appropri-
ate waste container. Using a piston puller, remove
the piston from the reservoir. Push the piston and
piston puller out the top of the reservoir. Do not pull
the piston. This will damage the lip seal. Disconnect
the pre-filter section from the fuel reservoir cover
and disassemble it by removing the three Allen
screws. Discard the white filter element.
Disconnect the water reservoir by pushing down on
the collar of the quick-connect fitting to release the
fitting.
