3. TEST PROCEDURE

3.1 SETTING THE CONTROLS

1. Press F8 or F9 to set the Setpoint to the specified
heater tube temperature. Tests can be run at a
minimum of 180°C to a maximum of 380°C. The
temperature at which the test should be run, and
the criteria for judging a pass/fail result are
normally stated in the specifications for the fuel
being tested.
NOTE - if running a CUSTOM TEST on a Model
240, make sure only one dP is used (if necessary,
press F2 to confirm).

3.2 VENTING THE FUEL SYSTEM

1. Turn the FLOW CONTROL SELECTOR
VALVE to the SYSTEM VENT position. (On
the Model 240 leave the bottom ∆P2 valve set to
the RUN position.)
2. Press F3 to turn the Drive Pump ON (ascend-
ing).

3. Observe the air trap jar for flow of air bubbles.
Wait about one minute to see if air bubbles
appear. Then wait until the air bubbles disappear
and only fuel globules are seen entering the jar.
Maintain the water level above the end of the
long tube.
4. The test is ready to start when air bubbles are no
longer seen as fuel flows into jar.

3.3 START-UP

1. Press ENTER for the TEST RUNNING display.
2. Turn the top FLOW CONTROL SELECTOR
VALVE to the RUN position.
