5. Carefully free the edges of the fuel pump cover from
the pump nut and lift up to remove the fuel lines from
the cover opening.
Be gentle when lifting up on the fuel pump cover as the
fuel pump electrical harness is connected and routed
through the "+" shaped pass-through of the fuel pump
cover next to the fuel line opening.
6. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical harness. The
connector can be removed from the cover or can
remain routed through the "+" shaped pass-through of
the fuel pump cover and moved to the side.
7. Ensure that static has been discharged by touching a
ground source such as the engine or frame.

NOTE
8. While holding a shop towel over the fuel line
connectors, disconnect the fuel supply line
w
fuel return line from the pump (see Fuel Line
Removal / Installation page
procedure).
CAUTION
It is possible for pressurized fuel to be present when
disconnecting the fuel line.
It is recommended to allow the vehicle to sit for a period
of one hour after shutting off the engine before
servicing the fuel pump. This allows the exhaust to cool
and fuel pressure to drop.
A small amount of fuel may come out of the fuel lines or
pump fitting. Properly drain fuel into a suitable
container.
9. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical harness.
