Pull the electrical leads away from the sensor.

Using the Phillips head screwdriver, remove the gold screws (C - one is hidden
in the figure) that hold the ion source onto the quadrupole. There are three
screws.

Lift the ion source off the quadrupole assembly.

Install the new ion source by reversing the above steps.

Using an ohmmeter, check:

CAUTION
Do not bend the leads.
that both filaments are not shorted to ground or to any of the lenses
that the filament leads show a filament resistance of approximately 0.8 at
the feedthrough between each filament pin and the filament common pin,
refer to
Figure 6-1 on page 6-5
