Engine troubleshooting

NOTE: This chapter shows how to easily diagnose problems relating to the engine and describes the solutions to be
adopted. If you are unable to determine the cause of the failure, or if the latter is difficult to rectify, consult your CASE
CONSTRUCTION Dealer.
PROBLEM
Engine does not start. Starter does
not rotate or rotation is weak.
Engine does not start. Starter turns
over.
The engine starts, but stops
immediately.
Engine revolution is unstable.
Engine rotation does not increase.
7 - TROUBLESHOOTING
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Battery master switch in "O" (Off)
position (if equipped)
Battery is running out
Disconnection, looseness, or
corrosion of the battery terminals
Starter ground wire terminal
detached, loose, or corroded
Engine oil viscosity is too high
Starter or electrical system faulty
Battery master switch in "O" (Off)
position (if equipped)
No fuel in fuel tank
Air intrusion in the fuel system
Clogging of the fuel filter
Fuel is frozen
Failure of the supply pump
Clogging of the supply pump strainer
Failure of the engine control system
Preheating system faulty
Overflow valve remains open
Clogging of the fuel filter
Clogging of the pre-fuel filter
Failure of the engine control system
Clogging of the air cleaner
Failure of the supply pump
Clogging of the supply pump strainer
Failure of the fuel system
Water or air intrusion in the fuel
system
Failure of the engine control system
Clogging of the fuel filter

SOLUTION
Place the battery master switch in "I"
(On) position (if equipped)
Charge or replace
Repair the corroded area, and then
tighten securely
Repair the corroded area, and then
tighten securely
Replace it with oil with appropriate
viscosity
Consult your CASE CONSTRUCTION
Dealer
Place the battery master switch in "I"
(On) position (if equipped)
Check that there is no fuel leakage
and refuel
Remove the air
Remove moisture and replace the
element
Warm up the fuel pipe with hot water,
or wait until the air temperature rises

Clean the strainer

Clean or replace the supply pump, fuel
filter or fuel port overflow valve
Remove moisture and replace the
element
