CARBON ARC GOUGING

5.1

Synergic Mode

The weld current source has a synergic mode for carbon arc gouging. This means
that the weld current source automatically sets the appropriate value for voltage
based on the selection of electrode diameter.
It is possible to use electrodes with a different diameter than the ones represented in
the user controller, but this means that the users must make necessary settings of
certain parameters themselves.
5.2

Basic Settings

Basic settings for carbon arc gouging are made in the controller's main menu.
1. Weld Process = CARBON ARC GOUGING
2. Electrode Diameter
The following table shows the electrode diameters which can be selected in
accordance with the weld current source's synergy.
Electrode Diameter
3/16 in (4 mm)
5 mm
1/4 in (6 mm)
8 mm

Weld Data

If only weld current source synergy is used, it is not necessary to set any weld data.
The parameter voltage is available for adjustments, however, Italicized parameters
below are called "constants." These are not affected by any voltage adjustment.

A table with the parameters' setting ranges is found in "APPENDIX" under section
10.
